The 2019 Vintage was a wild ride for Niagara, the season started with a cool, wet spring that put the vintage generally behind by about two weeks across all appellations. The peak summer months were warm and sunny, with several heat waves that brought high humidity across southeastern and southwestern Ontario, and with some disease pressure in the vineyards. The harvest season was chaotic weather wise, with warm spells in September, intermitted rainy periods and sudden cold snaps in October and November, keeping winemakers on their toes.
A crisp and refreshing example of Niagara Riesling. An elegant nose showcases lemon drop, Granny Smith apple, honey and mineral notes. The palate is light to medium bodied, with flavours of citrus fruit, honey, apple and tropical fruit notes. Flavours are rounded out with a vibrant citrus acidity on the finish.
Harvested in late September from select vineyards in the Niagara Peninsula. The average brix at harvest were 19°. Fruit came in ripe with good acidity and flavour concentration. The grapes were pressed and put into stainless steel tank from fermentation with no secondary malolactic fermentation allowed. After settling and aging in tank the wine was bottled under screwcap in September 2020.
