The Fully Completely Grand Reserve Red was originally created to commemorate the Hips announcement of the re-release of their legendary album Fully Completely and 2015 North American Tour. The wine was co-created by band members Gord Downie, Paul Langlois, Rob Baker, Gord Sinclair, and Johnny Fay in conjunction with Stoney Ridge Estate Winery. The 2018 vintage once again features an exact replication of the original artwork that first appeared on the Fully Completely album cover.
An elegant and fruit forward Bordeaux style blend. Aromas of red currant, cherry and raspberry are accented by savoury spicy notes of clove, caramel and cigar box. These aromatics carry over to the palate, along with candied plum, blueberry and strawberry jam flavour. The palate is soft textured, with mellow tannin and delicate acidity. Drinking 2020-2025
A blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc and 11% Merlot grapes were harvested from select vineyards in the Niagara Peninsula. The grapes came in clean with good fruit concentration and an average brix of 21.5°. Grapes were crushed and fermented in separate lots in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then racked into new and seasoned American and French oak barrels for 15 months prior to blending. 1900 cases were bottled (bottled April 2020).
